Over the years, We have ridden thru Yellowstone on our way to or back from Sturgis several times. We like the Tetons and Jackson but for me Yellowstone due to the crowds and time required to get thru was a pain. 2016, I went to Yellowstone NP solo, arrived Sept 1. to visit a close friend who works there. No crowd, cool temps and thanks to my friend who really knows about the park, had a GREAT Time. I saw more wildlife than ever and prices were better When I go again, weather permitting, it will be after the crowd leaves

On a 4-day trip from San Diego to Sturgis. Yesterday we left Twin Falls, ID headed to Yellowstone. Going through the park was meh... Beautiful, but 45 MPH speed limit the whole way. And you're lucky to do 45 with all the RV's, Toursits, etc...
After passing the lake and turning right on East Entrance Road, everything changed. From there to Cody (about 80 miles) was probably the most epic ride I've done to date. Fully loaded, two-up FLHTK carving through the twisties with just enough traffic to make passing fun. Way more beautiful backdrop (the entire way to Cody) than the West side of the park.
If you've got a couple of hours to spare getting through Old Faithful, etc., I highly, highly recommend the trip. When the wife could finally wipe the grin off her face, all she could say was "f**king beautiful!!"...

Lotsa memories on those roads, we had a blast.
Finish up with work and hit the road, get back in town just in time to hit Casies (I think that is how they spelled it) or the Boot.
Young and invincible (or is that stupid) either way it was a blast.
The winters sucked though, just plane cold.
