Default Grand Canyon road closure

The state of Arizona has closed the 43 mile section of SR-67 from US-89A at Jacob Lake to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon for the season. It usually reopens again in mid-May.

At an elevation over 8,000 feet, this area usually receives over 9 feet of snow a year.

Daggone it. I guess I'm gonna have to wait a few months before I go back out to my favorite spot.

Agree. I prefer the North Rim to the South Rim as well. Rode south from Zion NP to the North Rim last summer. Awesome sweepers over high mountain ridges and almost no traffic. The Park Lodge (same construction as the El Tovar at the South Rim) is right on the edge of the rim. Book one of the many log cabins there if you plan to stay overnight.

Yes, But having done both, the views are much sweeping in the south versus the northern one....

Did a summer run and a wintery one.....what a difference in the scenery.

been there , done that ! would love to do it again sometime . for my money sitting in the dining room in the lodge at sunset is the best view in the world . not that i've seen everything of course , but i can't imagine anything that can beat it .
