There’s lot of great places up there you’ll find them when you arrive Enjoy

Skyway and hit up Bald River Falls. The lady at the Harley outpost shop told us to turn around and go see the falls and it was worth it. Blue Ridge Parkway, Sidewinder, Copperhead, Gauntlet, Devil's Triangle, Moonshiner... 4 full days? that's it? maybe if it was 4 weeks you MIGHT be able to hit up all the good roads in that area. They have maps in that area at gas stations and stores that label all the rides and loops you can do.

It is hard to find a road that is not great in that area, Wayah Road is a great ride IMHO.

Also, a trip to Helen, GA is worth consideration.

Helen, Georgia reinvented itself as a Bavarian town. Octoberfest there is worth the trip!

Wayah Rd is also one of my favorites. It runs between 74 and 64 just east of 129 coming out of Robbinsville. I think it's also called CR 1310

My wife and I were told about Wayah Road, but we did not seek it out. When we finished the Dragon and were playing around we ran into it and decided to do it and it was worth the time to do. I love the roads in the area, they really are fun to ride and the sites are spectacular.

Wayah Rd is ones of those roads that is just nice to ride... The new pavement is nice, Some switch backs sneak up on you but the nice sweepers with the lake views are nice...My wife n I ride it every chance we get.

I went to East TN and Western NC about a month ago and spent eight days. There are a lot of great rides, including the Dragon, but when I go back next year, I'll spent more time in the Maggie Valley and Ashville area. Here's my agenda for the week I was there. Oh, don't miss Copperhead Loop.
  1. Home to Gatlinburg (7.5 hours, 430 miles) via Maryville - Saturday
  2. Cherohala Skyway Loop – Start Gatlinburg to Gatlinburg (7.5 hours, 268 miles) - Sunday
  3. Smoky Mountain Loop – Start Gatlinburg to Maggie Valley (5 hours, 192 miles) – Monday
  4. Tail of the Dragon – 129 Dragon HD – start at Chilhowee (1.5 hours, 37 miles) - Monday
  5. Thunder Road – Start Maggie Valley (4.5 hours, 141 miles) – Tuesday
  6. Copperhead Loop – Start Maggie Valley (3 hours, 108 miles) - Tuesday
  7. Bobarosa Salon Run and Rattler (3 hours, 115 miles) Start Maggie Valley to Asheville – Wednesday
  8. Biltmore Estate Tour – Thursday
  9. Biltmore to Skyline Inn (1.5 hours, 61 miles) – Thursday
  10. Skyline Inn/Murder Mountain Run (6 hours, 206 miles) – Friday
  11. BRP Skyline Inn/One Sick Loop/Pidgeon Forge (7.5 hours, 236 miles) – Saturday
  12. Pidgeon Forge HD to Home (9 hours, 479 miles) via Chattanooga – Sunday

Just got back from 129 and Cherohala PW, last night, 3 buds from Chicago rode down to INDY and we left Indianapolis Friday morning. I preferred the Cherohala PW myself over the Tail, The parkway ride has lots of overlooks and is a little less technical to ride.

Came back thru 4-hours of mountain rain and fog yesterday, got a little cold in the rain but we made it back OK and had a great time.

Personally I hate the dragon. Many many better roads to ride in that area. Cherohala is a much better ride.

I do enjoy the Cherohala. I think I could do it all day long, if it were not for the amount of awesome roads out there. I will ride again in that area (in laws live in Tenn) but I doubt I will do the Tail again unless I am with friends who have never done it. I enjoy the finding the less traveled road.
