Rt. 140 east/west, out of pawlet off of rt 30, which runs north/south and follow that to 150 then you can go north or south to different ski areas and lots of good riding pretty much anywhere you go. Don't miss skyline drive between Manchester and Arlington...its a private owned till road but well worth it...they have a website. We like the barn restaurant in pawlet...if youre there in the summer you have to make a reservation or you probably won't get a table. They open for 5 hours a day , its a great marketing ploy that seems to work for them. You can eat upstairs in the restaurant or downstairs in the bar...we've done both and like the bar better. I wish I had more exact routes to give you but I'm 5 minutes over the border in New York and I usually just take random roads trying to get lost when I ride in Vermont.

Most of the Vermont roads are worth riding. The Main roads tend to travel north/south in the mountain valleys and have great scenery. The east/west roads are fewer and sometimes dirt, so check your route carefully. You'll probably be able to find lodging near any major ski area without much trouble during the summer. Route 100 is considered the most popular and perhaps most scenic route through the state. Popular spots along the way are Woodstock and Stowe. Both have great eating. If you want to see the "western" shore of New England, visit Burlington. Eateries of all types and plenty of places to stay. Plus it has one of the most scenic views in the nation, looking across Lake Champlain at the NY Adirondacks Mountains. If you like to ride up the mountains, as mentioned earlier, Mt Equinox in Manchester is beautiful. Lesser know is Mt. Ascutney in Windsor and probably most picturesque is Mt. Philo (just south of Burlington) in Charlotte looking accross farmland and Lake Champlain again at the Adirondacks.
Have a great and safe Trip.

Honestly my friend, Vermont is one of the most beautiful states to ride through.
Just do your best to stay off of the super slab. There are many, many small towns that are absolutely awesome.
The Southern California Motorcycle Association has VT 101 as one of the best roads. I have been on it and I would agree it is an excellent road. Be careful, when I was there (about 8 years ago) parts of the road needed to be redone.
You are going to love that state!
