I followed DK Custom throughout his trip out west this year. It looked to be a wonderful trip and should I recover, it gave me some towns and areas to visit. Thanks Again.

Awesome! Thanks for the pics, would love to do the same kind of trip, probably have to wait til I retire so I have enough time to enjoy without being rushed.

After dropping Darlene off we headed down 2 and grabbed a room.
July 21
We crossed into Montana and ran the Road to the Sun. Great scenery but we ran into too much traffic. The plan had been to go both ways through but by the time we got to the other side we just decided to jump on 2 and head east for home. Bill's bike was making noise by now, we got about half way between west and east Glacier when it quit. Took out a crank bearing. No cell service for 60 miles we ended up to ride out to find cell service to call AAA for a tow to Kalispel. Joe's Towing came out with a pickup with an enclosed trail dedicated for motorcycles. When he reached cell service he called all over trying to find accommodation for us, when he couldn't he ended up putting us up at his house and driving us to U-haul sun morning to get a 14' truck and helped load the bikes for the trip home. If anyone ever needs towing in the area I would definitely suggest giving him a call http://www.flatheadvalleytowing.com/...SAAEgIt-vD_BwE

Regarding the concrete circle: you didn't say where it was, but my guess is it is a pad for an artillery gun used for avalanche control. There are a number of them placed along the high points of Rogers Pass, Kicking Horse and Kootenay Pass. In Canada only the military can use the big guns in avalanche control.

Thanks, it was on the side of the Trans Canada Hwy somewhere between Revelstock and Lake Louise.

Thanks. Really enjoyed your ride report and pics. Have ridden a couple of those wonderful roads and ferries in BC. How did Bill make out with the crank bearing failure? Did the dealer in Kalispell sort it out?

Thank You for the report on your trip!! Sorry to hear of the engine troubles!! I really enjoyed seeing your photos!! I used to live in Cut bank Montana back in the early 80's and my buddies and I rode our bikes in those mountains almost every weekend in the summer!! one of the regular trips we would make often to Kalispell for the stock car racing and the buckets of beer and in those days they were buckets!! (spent many nights in my tent without setting it up because of those buckets!!) Brings back memories!! Thank You!!
