Another suggestion. If your already at Mexican Hat, please consider Moki Dugway. Some gravel but it's hard packed. At top is dirt road to west. At the end is amazing view of canyon and river!

Yes ! We rode Moky Dugway last year on the North Rim trip. Totally unexpected coming from Hanksville, After dodging cows and horses, we came upon Moky. Freaked out a little, studied, (would have taken a shot if I had one) then headed down. Very Cool indeed !
I've been reading a post on Hwy 14 from Cedar City to 89, it maybe hidden to just the Utah folks, but will take a detour to check it out.

Just west of Durango, Mesa Verde National Park...one cool place to see the Indian cliff dwellers....

That's a great loop.. 141 out of Gateway into Telluride is one scenic ride..
