Default What do you know about Savannah, GA?

The wife and I are gonna getaway this weekend, but we have to take the cage, so it's not a MC trip. We've never been to Savannah so I was hoping some of you frequent travelers may have some tips on places to stay, things to see/do. Drinking is out because the wife is pregnant, but we're open to pretty much anything else. Thanks guys.

Used to spend a lot of time in Savannah. Best thing I ever did was go to River Street and get on the Trolley Tour. Great historical tour, dealing with everything from the slave trade to the movie industry. Learned what the cobblestone streets were all about. Each time I went there, I took the tour because the guides weren't the same and each one of them had their own specialty.
Tybee Island is also a must. Go to Spankeys and have the "Original Chicken Fingers".

I've lived in Savannah a few times while working there and really like the city. If I was going from Jax and time wasn't a factor I'd definitely drive up US 17 rather than I-95. River Street is very nice and their are some great restaurants. Maybe a little cool for this but there's a river tour boat that's pretty neat. I think it's called "Waving Girl." Fort Pulaski on the way to Tybee Island is neat also.

Go into the historic district there is a little shop on River Street that has the best Pecan Pie in the world. I don't remember the name so you may have to try them all.

Hotel downtown can get quit $$$$
Hilton about 6 blocks from River st.
Hyatt on River st. and a few others..
River St,City Market, Ghost tours (kind of a history and ghost tour).
I think the river boat is still running for dinner cruises.
Tybee Island is about 25 miles from downdown just follow Bay st out.
Mighty 8th air museum (exit 102 I95),Train museum,Downtown I95 to exit 99 (rt 16) follow signs
Or Rt 17 but once you get past rt 204 (exit94 I95) 17 gets crowded and somewhat confusing towards downtown
Plenty of eats on river, bay, boughton, and city market place
most everyhting is walking distance except seeing 'all' the historic district.
Chippewa sq is forest gump sq, bench in the museum.

have fun

be careful where you park, I think there is a meter reader behind every lamp post.
