Iron Butts, check in here.

I have completed the Iron Butt Rally twice and am riding in it this year so I am confident I can complete the HH. The biggest issue for me will be actually sleeping outside in the weather. I used to like camping but at 55 my bones don't appreciate it as much.

I have not, however several of my friends have and I spent a fair amount of time talking to them about it. I believe in 2018 very little if any of it was on interstates, it was all US routes and they hit most states.

Much Respect
Id like to do 1 but it’s hard to get that much time off from work to rack up enough certed rides to qualify or get invited.
Maybe 1 day......

I have a 6 gallon aux fuel tank under my Tour Pak. Total is 10.5 gallons and I actually have a range of over 400 miles depending on how hard I am pushing it. I normally stop around 350 so I have a cushion as I almost ran out twice even with 10.5 gallons. Fuel gets pretty scarce in remote areas which are rather common on rallies, especially the IBR

[QUOTE=cacomly;18032414]Are you doing it under the IBA rules or just for the sake of doing it?
1,000 miles in 24 hours for me is a non-event, but that is because I do a lot of long distance riding and my bike is set up for it. For someone who has never done more than 1-200 miles it could seem like an eternity. As you've done 700 miles you should have no issue with 1,000, but the last 100 miles or so could be tough. Just be prepared for that.
As for your question, sometimes I go straight thru and run tank to tank (tank to tank for me is 350 miles), sometimes I am stopping every hour for a bathroom, sometimes I will grab a bite to eat in a fast food restaurant or at a picnic table. During my Bun Burner (1500 miles in 36 hours) we stopped for a hotel for 4-5 hours. It all depends on how I am feeling. Having the long range helps because if I am in "the groove" I don't have to stop for fuel. And note the downside of getting a hotel after riding 300 miles is you loose that time. What happens if it starts raining, or you hit traffic, or whatever. I'd rather push through if I am up to it and sleep at the end.
I've been planning on doing it just to say I did it . I just stumbled on this website by chance in a Road Glide forum the other day . Now I want officially be part of the club . Haha . The more I think about it, the Bun Burner seems tough! There's definitely no judgement on getting a hotel for a bit on that one .

What, not the IBR???
I am leaning towards it for next year. I was going to ride in the Butt Lite rally especially since it is the last one however I will wait and see where it starts and finishes.
Note there are some changes coming to the Hoka Hey. I believe they are limiting the field to 100 for 2020 so you may want to sign up sooner rather than later. I believe new rider signup starts in August or so. I have quite a few friends riding in it so I'll see. It starts and ends in Panama City Beach for 2020

I had mine built by Boyd Welding in Florida. Do a search for fuel cell and you will see some examples.
