North of Belle Fourche about 30 miles on a side road off of Rt 85 is a small marker showing the center of the US. It's not the pretty riding country of the Black Hills but while in the area and if a person has the time it's someplace different to ride to and take your picture.
I've ridden past that marker and wondered about what it is. Would've expected the center of US to be somewhere in Iowa.

The geographic center for the lower 48 states is in north central KS near Lebanon. Nice little roadside park and a sign/flag.
The center marker north of Belle Fourche is including Alaska and Hawaii. I don't know how they account for the distance thru Canada or the Pacific.
The marker north of Belle Fourche is a pile of rocks a few feet in a pasture and a flag. Nothing else around it.
Try 85S out of Lead to Four Corners 585N to Sundance to 14 out to Devils Tower, did that last year during the rally to get away from the traffic. Nice ride with little traffic till you get past Sundance. There's a HD shop in Sundance that's great if you need an oil change done without waiting in a long line like the shops in Sturgis or Rapid City. Has a cool little bar next door you can have lunch in while you wait.
Very good suggestions by all. You won't disappointed anywhere you go out there. The only thinkg is it can get pretty warm in the lower elevation so its kind of nice being in the mountains to where its a tad bit cooler
