where would the best place be to pick up the coast and ride in Maine coming form Conway NH?
Would like to end up in Bar Harbour then head NW back towards Ontario, or travel further up the coast then west if it is a better ride.

 

Anyplace south of Camden, Me. is worth skipping. North of there into the Bay of Fundy is a nice ride. I take the inside route from Digby up.
The best riding is NS. After that a must ride is Gaspe Peninsula.

 

From Conway, I'd head east via Route 302 via Bridgeton, ME, to Naples, ME and either 302 around Sebago Lake into Portland or at Naples, take 114 south around Sebago Lake into Westbrook. Take any route you want to get north of Portland and pick up Route 1 somewhere near Freeport and follow 1 up thru Bath into Camden. You can ride up Mount Battie Auto Road in Camden Hills State Park for a great view. Just stay on Route 1 thru Belfast & Bucksport till you hit Elssworth, and then follow Route 3 onto the island to Bar Harbor. You have some good riding on the island via the Park Loop Rd as well as other local roads. North on Route 1 thru Machias to Calais is prettier than Freeport to Bar Harbor, and from Calais you can pick any option you want to go west.
