question...where to park truck and trailer???
Hubby and I are planning a trip south to get out of this frozen tundra we are in. We just got back from florida with the kiddos on a disney/universal trip, but wanna go down with bikes. We would like to trailer bikes down from Michigan to where weather is a decent temp, then keep riding south...goal is key west. We have no idea of where to leave the truck and trailer for possibly a week...we have never trailered before, always biking to our destination...so this is new to us. Thanks for any advice!

I heard this on the forum. Park at a airport secured parking area. Unload your bikes and ride off. Pay on the way out on your bikes. When you come back, load your bikes and pay out again. Cost is two short term fees for secured airport parking. I would probably go for long term secured parking somewhere around an airport.

I have contacted the manager of a strategically located hotel. I usually stay at Hampton inns. I ask the manager if I spend a nite each way could I leave my truck for a few days. They have never said no and I have never had any problems. The best part is it didn't cost anything. I don't know if all major chains will do this. I always ask for the manager and explain what I want to do. Good luck!

In the past I've left my vehicle and trailer in motel parking lots (with permission) on private property (also with permission) and in a secured RV parking area. I once left my bike w/tow behind trailer in an enclosed building storage area in Fairbanks, AK for two weeks.
It's amazing how little it costs to have piece of mind about your "stuff" while you're trying to have a good time while you're traveling.
Be sure to check the weather forecast(s) before heading south.
Some of those areas are having some very unseasonal weather.
