Meanwhile someone decides to take a "cruise" and burn through 5k or more. And or someone buys an RV, BOAT.....ETC. Motorcycles are toys for most here (maybe not India lol) but at the end of the day the non motorcycle people will say waste of money. And for us Motorcycle riders better ride everyday you can. And it ain't forever so if you got the play money then time to play. I sold my 15 and 16 CVO SG and Limited for new 17 M8's last fall and early spring. And I like some here wondering if it's worth the jump. To each his own and if you ever were married and divorced and had child support or alimony this motorcycle game is dirt cheap lol.

Totally not worth it unless you have money to burn. At that point I guess who cares. You only gain 1 LB-FT of torque, and a couple of wireless headsets. Install the torque cams in your bike and add the wireless setup and go on a long vacation.

I have been looking for that 17 CVO at my local dealers and none around here. That color is better than any of the 18's.I was looking to trade my 15 CVO limited but could not make a deal when there was one around here. I did see a couple at NY dealers but its a long way to go to try to trade.

I am still trying to figure out what the benefit is to the 117. Compression is only 10.2:1 and they put stock heads on and stock valve springs. Hp and Torque gains are very minimal over the 17 114.

Looking at the dyno numbers for the stock 117, it doesn't even appear the cam is anything special. Maybe you can use the SE torque or power cam, although it doesn't say you can in the catalog.

If anyone has info on the stock cam for the 2018 117, I'd be interested to hear it..

You're making the wrong comparison in costs. A stage 4 on your current 2017 CVO is an entirely different beast from a 2018 117. Yes they would have the same displacement but the stage 4 bike would have hi flow CNC ported heads, a larger Throttlebody, larger injectors and a higher performance cam. Finally it would cost far less to upgrade the 2017 engine to 117 stage 4 than to upgrade the bike to a 2018. The ONLY reason to make this trade is because you like the paint on the '18 more than your current bike. Otherwise there's NOTHING to gain.

Sounds like you have done some research on the 18 CVO limited. Are there any "feature" pluses or minuses to the rest of the bike aside from the motor and color? It's really not clear to me all of what they changed if anything (aside from the motor)

During a 2018's Demo Ride yesterday, I asked the HD rep what the engine difference was from the 114 CVO Limited to the 117 CVO Limited - specifically if it was the 114 + the Stage 3 kit from last year. He said, no, it's not the Stage 3 kit - just the bigger bore cylinders, and not the upgraded cam, valve springs, or tappets.

The 2018 P&A Catalog now shows the 117 stock Dyno on page 573: https://www.harley-davidson.com/cont..._Priced_72.pdf

Yes, that was the dyno chart I was referring to. Strange they don't show a stage 2 option for the 117.

Yep, I considered this very same trade and stayed with my 2017. The changes are simple. BT module on 2018. It can be added to 2017 for $300. $2000 increase in price or $3000 increase for the anniversary. Plus a 3ci bump in displacement. Thats it. The only reason to make this trade is if you're crazy about the new paint. Which I definitely don't think is very creative or interesting on the 18s. The 17s stand out far more to my eyes.
