2011 CVO Ultra Classic

Blew a bulb in stock spotlight light. I am going to replace bulbs in both spotlights. What’s the maximum safe wattage bulb that i can install? Existing bulb is 881 or 891 at 25watts. Would like to increase wattage for occasional oh **** it’s dark time. O’Rielly auto parts sells a 60watt 881 bulb, is this too much? Want to keep stock assembly and change just the bulbs. I cannot answer your question, but have another thought. How much hotter will the higher wattage bulbs be? The stockers are plenty warm in the first place. Just a thought.

 

Use a high output LED "bulb" instead.
25w is barely adequate for a spot light.

 

I just put in 886 , they are a bit brighter, I think they are 45w

 

Check Amazon for the LX Light Cree LED spots, about $45 for the pair. Gobs of light and no worries about heat....
