I haven't noticed a requirement to have my bike plugged in all the time, but I wouldn't, because I plug it into a trickle charger when I'm not riding it. It would be my guess, if someone brought the bike back with only 321 miles on it, there's more problems than the plug-in issue. I've reached out to as many '23 CVO owners as I could, some have starting problems like mine, one has a noisy lifter noise at idle, but no one has mentioned this mandatory plug-in issue. Where is this dealer located, I love to ride a used '23 CVO to hear what it sounds like.

Metro Harley in Cedar Rapids , Iowa , I may be wrong on the miles but it was well under 1000.

Thank you, might be a little far for me. I tried to return this CVO with only 600 miles on it and Mile High Harley in Parker Colorado, the selling dealer, offered me $38,000 for a $49,000 CVO.

My dealer, said that due to the electronics parasitic draw, need to be plugged in especially in cold weather.

I had real life experience. In NJ I had mine unplugged for two days, pulled out of garage,
after a few hours tried to start it. not gonna happen.
hooked up tender, less than hour starts right up,

I have no idea what they gave this guy , once it's titled it can't be sold as new anymore so I'm certain he took a painful hit on it. We are supposed to be in the 50's
Friday , then it cools off and snow is on the horizon.

Now I know why the warning sticker on the frame was put on perfectly straight, but upside down. Was that a warning from someone at the factory? So many problems and the motor sounds vary loose, not like a new motor. Mileage roll-back? How can you tell? Well, maybe today with a new ECM or a fixed ECM all will be better.

So are you saying they are updating or replacing your ECM?

So the big event, "Your ECM is locked" was nothing more than a cockpit error at the dealer. Harley techs straightened everything out and all updates have been installed. The bike is still at the dealer; lifter type noise = normal 121 valve train noise, heated grips malfunction = new grips ordered, does not start at times = under investigation, info screen goes black at times = still analyzing, fork lock not working = fixed, testing electrical, battery etc.

Still want to hear another '23 CVO that sounds the same as mine. Snow tomorrow

sorry about your aggravation! I was a guinea pig twice with first year major model changes in the past few years, once in 2007 when the 110 motor came out in the cvo’s and in 2017 with the M8. I escaped without major problems both times but have friends that had issues that the motor company fixed in the following years. Now I just won’t buy a first year major model update bike.

First dealer I dealt with, again shows their complete incompetence. Made an appointment, got there when they opened and asked if it would be done by noon, "sure no problem". Told it was a ten minute job to replace defective saddlebag cover seals. Came back at 12:20 PM, is it ready? Got a puzzled look, "let me see". Can't find the paper work! "here it is. it hasn't be started yet. We'll get started on it right away." They did, gave it to me. I checked it and the seals were replaced, but still flopping in the breeze. They stuck'em back in and closed the lids. "Keep them closed for 24 hours and all will be fine". Twenty four hours later, they are still flopping in the breeze.

On the other hand, the good dealer, Avalanche Harley in Golden, CO, let me take another CVO like mine to see, well hear, if it has the same noisy lifter like noise like mine. It didn't. It had normal noises, but not the extra loud noise as mine.

Sorry if all of this is boring to you, but it should make you happy that your ride and pocket book is a whole lot better then mine. Anyway, please have a Marry Christmas!!
