Default How do you stay warm ?

I was just curious what some of the riders from colder regions use for heat. We don’t get the cold here in Houston like everyone else does but cold enough to be uncomfortable at times. The stock heated seat and grips work great. It helps to get Mama on for a ride when she would usually say no way.

Well a young blond usually works unless Momma is around......

If it is seriously cold I have a set of thermal construction overalls, waterproof boots, and a full face helmet. Just add some nice heavy leather gauntlets and I am ready to ride.

Default Cold weather riding

I hadn't even thought about the Carhart lined jeans. That would help some. There have been mornings when I've put on a pair of long johns, an extra pair of underwear, then another pair of long johns, then my jeans and then the chaps. There's that area that the chaps don't cover...and it can turn things pretty blue if you ain't careful! The top has never been a problem. Long sleeve shirt, short sleeve shirt, short sleeve work shirt, long sleeve sweat shirt, jacket. With enough layers you'll stay warm.

I don't live to far from you SkyClimber, closer to Austin...but I spent 5 years up in Alaska before moving back down here. The only way to stay warm up there is layers!

........ was out yesterday in the mid 20's w/ Sorel boots, Obermeyer ski bibs, lined HD jacket and a full face helmet. Had a really pleasant ride, though electric gloves would make things real toasty.

Another vote for Gerbings After you discover it, you will forget all that dressing up like a mummy crap in ski bibs, Carhartts, fleece lined pants, and whatever else you can layer up in.

Thinsulate lined Jeans from www.sportsmanguide.com, Chaps, Under Armour "Cold Gear" shirt, T-Shirt, Hoodie sweatshirt, leather Jacket.
My hands are where I have the problem, I don't want to give up my ISO grips for heated, and don't like riding with bulky thick gauntlets.
