Looks to me like the mousetrap is what took the fins out in the past. Question is how. The dents in the remaining fins line up perfectly. Its not unreasonable to think the bike has been on its side and forced the trap into the head so maybe thats how but at least it looks like the mousetrap was involved.
I looked for a measurement in the manual as to wear it should be mounted but cant find that info. Might not matter much if its in the general area.

Providing the heads are a mated set according to the casting numbers on the right and believed to be original to your 66. Find a very reputable shop that works on old iron. The fins on your head can be restored/welded. My friend in central Pa. has seen it done several times, as a matter a fact he has a mated set early 66 heads planning to get restored by his friend. If not original to your scooter, beings your trying to make your scooter correct take your time and find a set. If your not sure about the actual assembly date on your 66, I'm sure johnjzjz (John) and Speeding Big Twin (Eric) can estimate the date if you let them know your vin number.Example using a vin from a 1969 FLH: 69FLH11xxx assembled January 1969.

Picked up a correct rear light bar through ebay, hand controls, cables etc so Im going to start putting it back together mechanically with a foot shift (splined), mousetrap etc
This is the spray out car we did today, Im going to look at it tomorrow in the day light and decide how correct it looks as well as get input from you guys. I hate going by paint booth lighting but its the correct blue and the correct process so fingers crossed its on the money.
So my question is with a 66 having signal lights as an option, I was wondering what they did with the handlebars? Did they have all the switches regardless or did they have bars without provisions for them?
