Figured I would post this ole dawg on its own instead of high jacking others posts.
Made a deal for this 77 that was left to rust in a barn for 20 years....3 hour drive later it was home hanging from the cherry picker and get hammered with pressure washer

As it rolled n shop after serious degrease and pressure wash. Than all the garbage that I don’t like started coming off. Tanks pulled and soaked.

Nice score but I strongly suggest you lose those pipes shovels run like shit with them, you never get the carb right.

Oh they won’t be there long.....I hate the damn things. But the ones I’ll run are even worse.

Forward controls on left side were a mess....chrome peeling off. This is a low budget ride it in all weather bike. So pulled controls took a light cut in mill to clean chrome and copper off. Round stuff went in lathe....polished it up. Probably strip all chrome off aluminum in winter...hate the crap

Right side pulled side off trans and clocked kicker correctly.....amazingly it was all new stuff...just not installed rite. Pullled tappet blocks, push rods and tubes to seal up. Guy said he could never get front exh push rod tube to seal......gobs of sealant.Well it had nice new Jim’s lifters...nice new chrome tappet blocks...only one problem.....front tappet block not completely drilled to return oil to crankcase...yikes. No wonder push rod tube full. Simple fix and sealed back up

Got rid of the ford relay/Solinod and wired in a 50 amp box relay . Cut the batt box up and lined up tabs better than original and rewelded shaped to lock factory....Ditched chrome batt covers and hold down. Ditched crappy chrome starter cover.Welded tab on batt box and put a more solid /simple batt hold down. Put a 40 amp breaker out in the one on batt box so it’s easy to charge batt or test stuff. Heavy gauge wire with gold connector I had laying around for batt cables I made and solderd . Deffenetly not a restoration
