I have no idea why you would need nor Want a rim strip on a mag Wheel... It is specifically to protect the tube from spoke nipples!!!
Course... I never needed a Tube in a 9 spoke Harley mag... Morris and Lester???? yes.. gotta have a tube IMO

Probably don't need a rim strip on cast as they were meant to go tubeless...the dealership put it on so I presume in was to ensure the tube is protected from any imperfections inside the wheel...or perhaps force of habit i.e. when you put a tube you put a rim strip.

That bike had original wheels and the rear still had its original Goodyear....

Not sure why it leaked but it was bubbling through the cast...like it was porous

some of the antique machines with the -1940 rims we see that and you cant buy new so we fix best possible as they are mostly furniture

Is the hub junk? To save any hassles with axle and rotor fitment, I would source just a new rim, stainless spokes and lace it to the existing hub. For me I like black hub and rim with stainless spokes, but we know what opinions are like. I powder coat the rim and hub. Just a thought, but if the hub is still good.........

Apparently I like black wheels, everything except my chrome ***** Shovel, all my bikes have them, not a planned thing just one day I looked around and it had happened. I guess Black Wheels do Matter.

a few Norton owners i know have used tubeless tyres on a spoked rim. after a clean up,they seal the spoke nipples with silicon then you have to drill out the valve hole to accept the tubeless valve and run a round of 100mph tape around the inside of the rim with a rim tape as well. they say they have never had any problems with it.........stainless spokes hit with a glass bead gives you a cadmium type finish and looks real nice too.
