I ordered an Ultima 21x2.15 chrome 80 spoke. Should be here friday. I hope the hubs are the same width. I really don't want to mess to much.. It was listed for 84-99 Softails and Dyna and not for the Superglide/Sportster so I'm hoping the hub is as wide.. Less rigging... Plus I'm already setup with 11.5" rotors.. Updated wide glide front end..

Bill I would've loved the black rims but the bike is on the chrome theme... Plus everytime I change something on any of my bikes my wife gives me a lot of crap, like it's her's or something.... Go figure....

Man that black rim does look real nice though, who makes it and what did is cost?

That is a HD wheel I scored off the Bay, less then $100. They were an option in 2005 (year of my bike not sure about other years). Then she was broken down, hub and rim powder coated black, new stainless spokes and a nice set of Michelins. Got the look I wanted and stayed with HD equipment. Everything bolted back up just like new. Did the same process on my Wide Glide, same results. With that bike I just used the stock wheels that came with the bike in 1997. Then sold my stock silver wheels to make back about 30% of my costs. Win/Win for me.

Nice... I wonder if I could replace the Timken's with sealed bearings? I have sealed on my 98 but that has 2000 up rims..

Find a 2000 spoked wheel on the Bay, get it powder coated and voila you have new bearings.

Before and after shots from the install, a bunch of years ago. Before anyone asks, the fender is shaved and lowered:

I remember when I was a kid I used to true wheels on my bicycles a lot. Not sure if it's any different on a motorcycle but I could imagine it might be a little more intriguing. Motorcycles go a lot faster than bicycles..

So anyways the new rim came in and I got to say it's pretty damn nice The hub is the exact same size as the old one, which is a bonus. So I shouldn't have any issues with the brake rotor or anything else and it seems that this is a tubeless rim that has a pretty thick piece of vulcanized rubber that's mechanically fastened to the rim to protect the screw heads for the spokes. I'm going to give it a shot we'll see what happens so far so good...

No, it's a Ultima 21-in. 84-99 I think it's going to be a good fit. I'll find out tomorrow...

I don't trust the manufacturer though in greasing the bearings so I'm going to pop the seals and regrease the the timkin's and make sure everything's good there...
