I haven't owned a Shovelhead for quite awhile. this was my 69 FLH motor in a 51 chassis. Picture taken in 1980 with my Nephew who wouldn't stay off it. He like to sit on it and say vroom vroom.

I have seen this style of photo many times, with a pair of '97 Road Kings and most recently with a Shovelhead and a Road King. Here is my version with my '80 FLH and '10 FLHR.

My current rides taken on the 4th.

Ok can't remember if I posted mine in here or not , started life as a 72 FLH found at a swap as a frame and 5 boxes of parts . 30 yrs later she's 93" puts out right at 90HP , running dual belts , did the rear without a kit . Can't begin to list all the tweaks and mods on her way to many , run through a dealer every once in a while just for giggles to watch them scratch their heads and stutter She treats me well and we've thrown down over a half million together over the years , bikes been everywhere on the northern continent but Alaska & Hawaii .

Back when she was in progress the last major .

This one may be coming full circle , built it for around $3000 and sold it 16 yrs ago . Was another 72 with a 88" screamer motor in it . Ran into the owner a while back and he's way down on his luck and it's been parked for 12 of those years , bike always scared him he never did much with it . Price is right I may pick it back up .

What you do to an inner primary to to get a rear belt to work on an older chain shovel .

Purple & blue plus a generous helping of nylock nuts and you'll have a happy non rattling shovelhead . It's always in the details that will make or break it .

Good evening TB, great looking bikes and a good yarn to boot.
You make that rear belt drive conversion look pretty sweet too. I wish I had a cereal bowl that was as clean as the insides of that primary - lol.
Thanks for posting.

There's mods you have to do to the frame , the starter and the tranny depending what year you have and it's all real close on fit & clearances plus some mixing and matching parts in the trans . Not recommended for the average garage guy unless you have a good parts supply and know what your doing . Takes a little dancing to get it all right but hallelujah when it is , takes better than half the vibration out of the bike and my sweet spot it 70 -75 mph with no mirror buzz . .

Primaries will stay like that with no crap in them .
