I don't get it, 6 pages of "I want a wide glide with different wheels, brakes and seat........so buy it already and make it how you want, its easy, lots of people have done what they want to make a bike theirs. Just because there is something called "factory customization" doesn't mean you get to pick and choose ANY parts you want from the entire HD inventory, some things are offered, some are not - just like buying a car or truck.......there are certain options and option packages and the rest is up to the buyer to make changes if he's not satisfied with what a manufacturer offers.

yeah its funny, when I bought my Super Glide, I paid $7K. My neighbor had his on the market for $10 K . Same year , and model, different color and some chrome add ons. He didn't get any takers and still has the bike, swears he wont sell for less than $10K.

You're only gonna get a dealership to go so far out of its way to make you happy. You can try other dealerships, but really, you have three options

1. Take what you can get
2. Get what's closest to what you want and modify it
3. Get a used bike and build what you want

Like me, you're a weirdo who has specific wants. Nothing wrong with that. It's your bike, and they ain't cheap

nothing to get. came here for adviceare you trolling, or just randomly being angry? if you don't like whats being said, don't read it. a lot of good info has been posted here and i've been talked off a ledge, exactly what i needed. in slowing down, i :
  • learned that i can get a stage 3 [higher hp and torque] kit installed for ~$1350 rather than spending 2800 on a 110 kit lower hp (calls back to Lancaster HD, after dealing with some service ***** at Ademec HD in Jacksonville who tried to slide $2000 [$5800 total] in bs crap in my 110 kit estimate on the black 2013 w/ 4.8k they are selling for $14999[?, lol], but will to let go for $11500, gtfoh )... nice try... been there; done that.
  • learned that fat bob sliders and goodies will cover the brakes (hdforum, you +)
  • discovered hogpro (hd forum)
  • that people like repeatedly restating the obvious like it's some sort of "ahh" moment(lh4x4, you -)
  • found a 2013 wg w/4.7k in black for $9500 in ohio and a 2013 in jerk flame orange for $9000 w/ 705m (yes 700 miles) in VA[gone]. (i'm actively looking... not just posting about it)

calm down, Killer

TO ME(i'm stupid), after being told i can't do it from the factory, it just makes "Factory Customization" seem like a joke.

they need to stop calling it customization and start calling it 'Some Adjustments, yo'.
Ya, well I'd like to be able to buy a new car without airbags or a stereo & that ain't gonna happen. See how it works these days?

Neither, you're mostly complaining about what the factory/dealership won't do for you - my point is that it simply doesn't work that way. There's basically two bikes close to your goal so pick one or the other and make it the way HD won't and you have something different from everyone else. I took a stock Super Glide and changed it into something that the next guy won't have one just like it - you can too. Personally, I think the LR is a better starting point but then again a WG with big wide wheels (130/200) and double discs will be cool and unusual - there was one done a few years ago and it looked great.

"that people like repeatedly restating the obvious like it's some sort of "ahh" moment(lh4x4, you -)"

i'm not complaining at all. the said they can't do it. they tried. that's that. i came here looking for options. i'm not sure where you are getting me "complaining." maybe you think me pointing out that "factory customization is bs" is complaining. it's a fact. it's just filling your shopping cart with accessories... no different from getting a mouse with your new laptop. go to porsche, merc, or bmw and say i want x or y. they say "okay, show us the money" a few weeks later, you have x or y and are lighter in the wallet... from the factory. it's a fact... example: http://www.bmw.com/com/en/insights/e.../overview.html

the dealer was willing to do the work to convert the bikes there into what i wanted... so i could pay $9000 extra (clearly stated in first post), we spent about an hour pouring over diagrams and such. rather than waste their time and continue upsetting people, i left and came to the real knowledge base... you all.

i saw a wide glide with the breakout turbines. it had a hartland 240 kit. i like it, but the front turbine is not set up for dual disk.

Some people enjoy riding their bike. Some people are more concerned with their 'profile' in the store front windows as they drive by.
