Uh, neither did we.
I drilled 4 holes in a $71 dollar liner, though.

Not much with the lights on.

 

The thing really like about is there is no manual switch. That Magnetic switch is just right. I had one before, and i always forgot to turn it off so I had to reopen the trunk and turn it off. No problem with that now.

 

I put them on the inside of the lid, facing down. A crappy pic of how they worked is below, but there was zero additional light and no flash used. I took the little "try me" battery pod they came with and put it in an ancient plastic fastener box, and added an old switch I had laying around; no trike power required.

That little "try me" battery box has 8 hearing aid batteries in it! I took the package from the back of the hook; don't get the front one where it's already been tested a gazillion times. Should last for a long time, and you can get an 8-pack cheap on eBay from China for two bucks.



3M double sided-tape. I put it right above where the liner sticks into the space for the tour pack light and antenna wiring, so nothing should poke up into it. Plus that switch slides, so no accidental draining the batteries.



Yeah, it'll look a lot better when I get black tape on the wires, or maybe some small loom.



Boom boom, out go the lights! Like I said, dark in the garage, no other lights, flash off. Pretty good, and you're not staring down with the LEDs in your eyes, making your pupils slam shut and you can't see anything, anyway. They're up and out of the way.



The other 4 are going in the trunk. A pair on each side, up top, one pair pointing forward, the other pair pointing down.

 

Zip tied $15 led strips to the lid organizer, velcroed the dimmer switch and wired direct to the battery. Maybe took an hour.

 

The touch screen dimmer......

 

Cool idea. I am glad to see somebody else uses their tailgate as a workbench

 

Interesting light ideas - good job on what you did.

I purchased something from Harbor Freight and they were giving away LED lights. So, I took the light, put it inside one pocket in my lib liner.

Now, at night when I open the tour pack, I simply hit the button and all is easy to see.

LED battery powered light at Walmart $3 , velcro 50 cents, 30 seconds installation, Open lid, touch button. Bingo.
