Happens around 20-30 mph with the clutch pulled in or even out (it seems) - in any gear. It's not that first gear whrr either.

I don't know what it is... just thought I'd tell you...you're not crazy. I hear it. Probably nothing to worry about.

Question: Do you find your fans are on quite a bit? I have not shut the bike off once without the fans having to run for 30 seconds or more after shutdown. My 103HO limited rarely did this. Just wondering. Bike seems hot a lot.
I heard what you're describing, but that was separate from this. This noise is so constant, you have to have the radio blasting to drown it out.

Also same experience with the fans. My 14 barely came on and these are always on and not from city cruising. Of course I was running V&H power duals and monster ovals with a fuel moto tune. I ran around 200-210 degrees engine temp.

Aye, thanks. Hoping it's just your belt!

No crazy sounds on my Limited but I do know that the fans say on sometimes after shutdown for about 15 seconds...I came from an 11 and bypassed the Rushmores so what's normal who knows. Bike runs great to me...got about 1200 on it now since last Saturday

interesting that the fans are kicking on so much with these M8 motors. I run the Powervision on my 14 Limited and the fans come on at 221 deg COOLANT temp, not engine temp, which is pretty darned warm. Just as you experienced, my fans very rarely kick on the 14, even with air temps at 100 deg. Are these M8's really running that much warmer?

The Limited I test rode had fans blowing at low 70 degrees which on Our 15 at around mid 80s and higher, may be because the M8 has more powerful charging system and can spare more juice then older bikes.

Not engine/Counterbalance whine since it's still there when you pull in clutch and the engine drops coasting going that speed. Not Transmission whine since it's more mid belt/rear tire/sprocket area. Possible bad tire maybe?
Sounds like belt drive or a sound a cupped tire makes when leaning.
I tested the belt deflection too and it barley hit 1/4in (Which is the low tolerance number 1/4 to 7/16 range) It's like a banjo string!
I test drove one the week they came out and it did not have that whirr. Also trouble getting it to go into 1st when cold. May be a product of fixing the "Clunk" in first. Not sure if thats tied to above problem though.

I had a 2013 Limited Ultra, 14 Street Glide, and 15 Street Glide special.....ALL THREE were shipped with the drive belt tight as a banjo string with the adjustment lobes all the way forward....Can't figure out why other than they are compensating for a slight stretching as someone else said in here....That said, I adjusted mine with the correct tool and specs and all is fine.

Anyhow, hope you figure it out and I'm sure that you will...Nice bike! I haven't ridden the 17's yet and afraid to as I may get the urge once again....ugh.

Probably threw the handlebars on it and put gas in it and on the sales floor
Handlebars are already bolted in place from the factory. All they do is put the windshield on, gas in it and if you are really lucky, they check the tire pressure and fluid levels.

I am taking a guess but think the noise is from the new counter balance.

Nope, I've pulled in the clutch and even went as far as shutting the engine off and it's still there

If the belt doesn't stretch (it does), why do they have you check it so often?
