I guess Howard is pretty good at what he does, but seems to be somewhere along the spectrum for customer service.

Pan Head Rich. Had you bought brand new in place of used you would have seen that the shocks are packaged from Sweden in that box sandwiched with 2 pieces of foam around the shock. One on top (not shown) and one on the bottom. When I shipped that pair of shocks the handle was on the side. Did you also get the part how Mike stated: "They are great. They stabilized the ride significantly." How about: "were built to order and delivered to my door for less than a set of Works Black Trackers with the forum discount Howard offers." ?

Ohlins no longer packages your shocks in that foam container. For some jack to say I need to re-package shocks from the factory is a sniveling POS. Let us get another thing straight, his shocks were custom built for him by me. I do not know of anyone who is designing Ohlins shocks and making them work on a different type bike than what the shocks were designed for. Being reduced to buying used shocks than you would not know nothing about this. Ya, that is you! Taking a post and transforming that post into saying they were scratched & filthy is BS. Being there are people having problems with their shocks I have been coating the threads with a type of waterless grease that does not attract dirt but does act as a sort of seal between the threads & spring pre-load adjuster..

Looking at the close up the threads were not scratched on the top but I see white on the bottom of the threads. If that is the case I would have asked for a RMA from OhlinsUSA and sent them in for evaluation. Yes, that is covered in the warranty. Send them back to Ohlins! It is a packaging problem, one that Ohlins designed.

Since you do not buy brand new equipment you are not qualified to state how new Ohlins shocks come. All Ohlins shocks are packaged this way in Sweden. Every Ohlins shock are shipped that way.

I'm not sure how anybody can have a bad thing to say about Howard. I bought a set of Ohlins from him for my 2007 Street Glide, which I move to my 2016 Street Glide after buying it to replace the 2007. Howard was incredibly helpful and professional. I wouldn't buy HD shocks from anybody but Howard.

I can see being bummed about the packaging, but Howard isn't Ohlin. That's how the shocks come to him, so that's how they come to you. Your complaint is valid, but you are complaining to the wrong company.

Sometimes it best not to post on these forums. What started out as a simple post on a consumer relaying his experience now is gone down hill fast in less than 20 posts.
