I had the drag specialties predator and it was garbage. I had the le pera silhouette which i liked but kept sliding off when accelerating. I had the mustang seat which i didnt even install because i foind it ugly and took away from the bike. I had a danny grey short hop, ran it for a few weeks, also didnt like it, didnt find it comfortable in the least bit. I am now running a le pera stubs cafe, which I am loving! If i absolutely needed a 2 up i would run a le pera daytona, le pera cherokee, or the new saddlemen ls-step-up.

I have a 1991. Really liking the looks of the LePera King Cobra, nice and low.

The Cobra is a "looks over comfort" seat, if you can deal with the lack of padding it will probably be just what your looking for.
L-896 looks to fit your year range ['82-'03]

I almost went La Pera Daytona for my Nightster, but the reputation and build quality of Mustang seats won me over. No regrets at all on the decision, The mustang is a VERY well made seat. (makes the OEM seat look like its strait from China... ) They dont look to have a huge option list for the 91 model year though.

I'm looking a lot closer at the LePera Daytona. It has enough pad for a small gal if necessary. Got a set of passenger pegs on the shelf. I like the saddle over the smooth flat seat of the Cobra/King Cobra, I can see where some sliding could happen on acceleration. Not that my 883 causes much terror.

Does not look like Mustang offers much for my older bike, but they are nice. I'm looking at the LePera Daytona for sure. Your bike looks awesome Max.

Just to be clear, because it's not really obvious from our website - seats for the 3.3 gallon tank Sportsters from 1982-2003 will fit ALL the Sportsters in that range. Frane is the same, only the tank varies, so you may have a 1.5" gap at the nose.

Thanks for the compliment, It looks like the Mustang Rep may be coming in with good news ... or at least some news that will make your decision a little harder lol...

So are you saying that any seat that would fit a 2002 XL with a 3.3 gal tank will also fit a 1990 with a 3.3 gal tank?

the language on the website for the "Pre 04" Fastback seat is this:

"Harley-Davidson® XL 1996-2003 & all pre-2004 3.3 gallon tanks, Fastback One-Piece"

Seats designed for the 2.1 gallon tank will not fit with the 3.3 gallon tank. The seats designated on our website as '82-95 are long-nosed for the 2.1 gallon tank.

Seats designed for the 3.3 gallon tank will fit with the 2.1 gallon tank with a 1.5" gap. The seats designated on our website as '96-03 and all 2.1 & 3.3 gallon tanks will fit ALL XL models 1982-2003.

We're aware this is really awfully worded on our website. We're working on making that a lot clearer, but as you probably know, everything in a company happens slower than we'd like.
