Are you saying you can't push them out with your fingers? A decent tool will run about $60-$70. Might consider getting someone to hold the piston while you tap the pin out.......

I hadn't tried yet, but my service manual and most of the instructions I have seen say to use one. I'll try my fingers first though.

Fingers should do it! Only thing I would add is drilling out the oil return in the rocker support and some rockouts while its apart.

Got em ordered now. Thanks. I hadn't heard about the drilling out the oil return in the rocker support mod. For anyone who hasn't done it and happens on this thread:

I plan to use an 1/8" bit and then one slightly larger to add an angled bevel to the hole.

Might also order the later stamped breathers, PN26500002. About $7.50 each and, according to some, a more efficient and improved breather. The really cool thing about them as that they make the R/R of the rear rocker support a breeze........

I believe the 88's had the stamp steel ones but in 07 they went to the cast ones then back to stamped steel. He might already have the stamped ones.

I'll check this. I have an '06 88 and I think I had the cast assembly, but I'll check them when I get home.

Trust me, you don't have the stamped breathers. IIRC, '99-'01 were plastic and not sold as an assembly; '02 were aluminum because the plastic warped and were sold as an assembly or individual parts for rebuilding; PN 1765-02. Notice the PN provided in my previous; the PN format started changing a couple of years back. Earliest year for the stamped breathers was 2011; maybe some late '10 models got them as a running change. Bottom line is that unless someone has install the later stamped breathers, you don't have them and should add them to your parts list.......
