I ordered the 2006-2008 support plate (reinforcing plate) for the bottom of the Tour Pak but it was no where near lining up with the holes in the Tour Pak plus it was smaller than the inside of the tour Pak.
So I ended up getting some .08 thickness 5052 aluminum and made one myself!
Plus when I was at ACE hardware getting the stainless bolts and hardware, I saw this black ribbed carpet runner that looked like the OEM mat that I had in a Tour Pak years ago. Took longer to cut and fit that than it did to cut the aluminum plate!
The only thing left left is my C&C Banana backrest which should be here on Friday!
I have been wanting a new style tour pak, but found a killer deal on the older style. Speakers, lights, backrest, rack, etc. I know I can physically make the older tour pak work on the bike, but with the new CAN BUS systems on the newer bikes, will the lights on the older tourpak work? Or is there a way to make them work?
Did you get the lighting to work on the tour pack ? I am doing the same thing and am just waiting to get the tour pack back from the paint shop. I Ordered a wiring harness that plugs into the wiring going back to the tail lights and tune signals and gives me a pig tail off that to go to the tour pack. My tour pack and lugage rack seem to have LED lights in them so I am hoping they dont effect the electrical system on the bike.
Thanks for all of the information. Very helpful, and great pics!
I recently bought an aftermarket pre-2013 King TourPak for my 2014 FLHTP. I bought a 2009-13 QD two-up mount and a 2009-13 QD solo mount to use for longer trips (either with the wife or without, respectively).
The two-up mount
has some slots to allow fore and aft adjustment.
The solo mount
does not.
I am going to mark the underside of the TourPak with white paint-pen spots for the solo mount, and see if they will work for the two-up mount so I only need to drill one set of holes.
Hopefully, it will all work out as I plan. Then I plan to install the mount(s) - one at a time - using a metal TourPak support base (that I intend to fabricate) on the inside for strength.
If it goes as I hope it will, I will have a tourpack that can be converted to go from a two-up to a solo with only four bolts to undo/re-do.
I'll make a new thread to document when everything arrives.
Trying to mod my 97-08 pack to mate with a 09-13 mount on my 09RK

I have the 2013 and earlier detachable docking hardware
I have the tour pak coming next week as well as the 2014 and later detachable tour pak mount (wider and flat) as well as the 2009-2013 detachable tour pak mount (with the step in it and a little narrower on the mounting plate width). I also ordered a 5/8" thick 12x12 black HPDE board from Amazon. Between all of that, I should be able to make something work!
Out of curiousity, I took my bike over to a buddys house who as a 2011 Road Glide Ultra with the OEM King tour pack mounted on the 2009 -2013 detachable mount. We removed his 2011 saddlebag and put my Rushmore bag on his bike. Lo' and behold, the bag cleared the tour pak and had about 1/4" clearance.
BUT as stated, the Razor tour pak has the extra ribbing on the bottom so I may run into issues there. I will probably be using the 2009-2013 mount either with or without the HPDE board cut to fit. See pictures below of the different bottom styles
This is the 2008 and earlier bottom (with a 2009-2013 mount)...
Which is like the bottom on the Razor Pak I bought.....
This is the 2009 - 2013 bottom - notice it is smoother without the ribs....

I saw your post. I am trying to do a something very similar with my set up. I saw your photos you posted in this tread, and I was wondering if the 09-13 mount fits in center of the pack with no obstruction? My trunk came with the alum baseplate all ready and does have have what appear to be a 09-13 hole bracket pattern. I welcome any advice you can share with me. I will be posting photos of the steps to get my pack on my bike.
Thank you in advance,

Unfortunately that post is from 2016 and that bike was replaced with a newer on in 2018. I have slept since then and do not remember any of the pain that was encountered in this process besides what was documented in this thread.
I put an 03 Tour Pak on my 12 RGS, I just bought the rack for the 12 lined it up were I wanted it and drilled no holes through the metal plate and bottom of the Tour Pak. My friend just mounted the same tour Pak on the back of his 2020 Road King by doing the same thing. If you try to mount the older style Tour Pak on the bike and it doesn't clean the new saddle bags just put a 1/4" spacer between the pak and the mount. I used a couple of pieces of black solid plastic strips and I worked great. Good luck on your project.
