Here is picture of my 13 Road King. I had beach bars on bike before and liked them ... but with the Wild1 518's ... it made it even better. With the Burley beach bars I had before ... I would have to stick my leg out when I was making a tight corner in parking lot but not with the 518's.

Had factory stock HD beach bar on my RKC. Yes, You'll need extended cables. The set-up and handling is near perfect for me. Only negative setback is that on the cold days, Your hands will freeze w/o question.

I have beach bars on my Road King with stock cables. One thing that really helped was putting the throttle /front brake side on the bars before bolting them down. This gives you a lot more room without trying to stretch the throttle cable and brake line around the end of the handlebar.
