If your using a carputer and Lilliput screen or the like I'd give huge props, if you just using an alpine/Sony/pioneer head unit with a kit you fabbed then props as well but your chasing as many are trying to get that done production but none are really 100% yet that I've seen in volume anyway.
Any specs? Digital, optical or rca out? Voltage of outputs and how many? Xm input? SIM card for let card? How many and what types of inputs? Including a weather face for the screen? Have you tested with direct sunlight for visibility?
No on the carputer or lilliput screen. No on Alpine, Sony, Pioneer either. It is a totally different system. It is built from the ground up for car/motorcycle audio/video/entertainment.
It is android-based, but has its own internal amplifier rated at 45Wx4, but in reality is probably closer to 25Wx4 clean. It has RCA outputs for front, rear and subwoofer (and an EQ to control with loudness function). It has front and rear speaker (amplified) outputs. It has right and left RCA audio input, and a RCA video input as well as a RCA input for a reverse/forward video camera. It has a standard antenna female input, remote amp switch power output, two (magnetically shielded) USB data input lines that can support (at least) 32GB thumb drives. It has 16G internal memory for apps and other media. As of now, there is no XM or Sirius functionality, but I am looking into it.
I have ridden it in the sun and visibility is good and bright. I may try to incorporate a non-reflective screen protector to further assist in direct sunlight visibility. As of this writing, the unit is splash resistant, but I have not tested full deluge. There may be some further water-proofing steps taken at the factory-level production as this project moves forward.
Manufacturing a cover is easy, but I prefer the production system not to need one.
Please keep forwarding your interest. gauging that will help me determine whether this system will be unique to my bike, or will be an option for others in the marketplace.
Would this system work with a '14 Ultra Limited? I recognize it would mean scrapping my 6.5 BoomAudio, but I am getting so frustrated with the stock system, it is clearly something I would consider. I'll be following the progress.
I pay the extra $4 a month for SiriusXM streaming. There's an app for that, so no need for XM module/antenna. If I can't get 4G in the mountains, I listen to the wind.
Oh and Android is the future. Always has been, look how far it's come since 2008. These HU's will only get better.
Once I get the Electra, Street, and Police 'Glide units all worked out, I'll begin work on a Roadglide mounting solution. When that time comes, I may need a local Roadglide donor bike to work with. But that is a little while down the road, so to speak.
I'm working on gathering all of the parts needed for a few pre-production units. I want to have a few Beta testers to make sure everything works out for them as expected.
It takes a little while to get packaging, suppliers and printing all lined up. These entertainment systems should be all beta tested and ready for shipping for our spring riding season this year.
All of the interest I am receiving in the system is very exciting. I knew that I was doing something I would like for my bike, and that some might like it, but i had no idea that so many would want one in their bike.
Thank you all so much for the questions and the constructive feedback.
Oh, by the way, the entertainment system also has AM/FM reception and plays WMA/MP3/MP4 etc through bluetooth, or directly from a USB drive plugged into on of the two USB ports that go right into the glove box to the right of the HU, just like the Harley USB port that would normally there. So no need to listen to the wind, unless you want to!
I really need to come up with a name for this system, so that I can refer to it with something other than "Entertainment System" or "Head Unit."
Ride Safe!

Im very interested. I have a 2014 Streetglide with the 4.3 Boom unit. Would these units be available to markets outside of the USA? Im in Australia.
I'm certain that when they are complete, I can ship them anywhere in the world. The systems are capable of working in many, many languages - including Aussie, Mate!
