Uses an EV 27 cam as well. Doesn't change the external looks at all

A little more progress today....

Got the bike pretty much down to the frame. I have left the brakes on for now, but they will be coming off tomorrow.

Then I will wheel her outside and give it all a damn good degrease and wash - then it's going into a spare room in my house and I will build it up inside - in the warm.

One question though. When I got all the wiring off, I could see that the top frame member has been drilled in several close by locations over time. This is where the tank bib secures.

Should I be worried about this many holes in one place here? Ideally, I don't want to have to strip the frame and weld it up as it would mean I should probably have the whole frame blasted and recoated and it's in pretty nice condition. However I will if it needs it....

Thinking about this, I think I may as well get the frame recoated while it is all apart.

I'll weld up the "spare" holes just leaving the top one which looks to be factory anyway. Then grind it smooth and have the frame blasted to bare metal and then coated with "Cerakote" ceramic. I've got the barrels and other bits to get done with that anyway....

Down to the bare frame now. I decided it's going to get powder coated rather than ceramic as the ceramic is so thin it would show any imperfections on the frame.

Just need to decide....red frame or black frame? I like the idea of red, but I think black might be the better and more stock looking choice.

Got some new fork mount cups, bearing races and bearings and swing arm bearings on the way.

I've also got a complete set of cadmium plated fasteners for the engine and transmission, some new con rods, a polished aluminium nosecone and well....loads of little bits and pieces such as a new coil mount, upper shock mounts (as the old ones were bent).

Still debating as to whether to have the passenger footage mounts removed before powder - it would look better, but my heart says leave them on just in case.

Getting excited now. Need to get the frame out for powder, a load of stuff for rechroming, some stuff for polishing, some new stuff to buy and then I'll start to put it together.

Probably a lull of a few weeks now as I will be away on business travel...

:-) Yep. That's what I decided too. It's out at the powder coating shop now. It'll be back this week and if I am lucky, my engine will be completed as well - although maybe next week for that.

Then the real fun starts.

Hopefully it will get more interesting in a short while.....I am running out of time to get the frame and motor back this week and will be on business in Mexico next week....but after that it should be all systems go.
