question, do you have HD perform your scheduled maintenance/services? If so, are you going to keep reusing the muffler clamps or buy new ones like you're supposed to every time for $27? what a hassle to be swapping them back and forth like that, they don't always just slip right off either..this whole thing is out of control!!!!

Boy Webb, you said it! Yes I have dealer preform all of my scheduled maintenance. Why? Funny you should ask..... I have the dealer document all service and record all work preformed on my bike for the soul purpose of keeping my WARRANTY in tact. I don't want any issues with Harley not paying out on a claim. So, I probably won't get slip on mufflers due to the fact that I don't want to risk any issues down the road. This in all likelihood will be my last Harley as well.

Default Slip Ons are not a big deal

No Tuning Needed Period. You go to a Catless setup with a intake its a different story. Dyno Tuning is a big labor upsell for shops. Really not needed until you go with higher compression, cams etc.
Rienhearts sound really good on an M8 Id have the dealer install them. If your dealer wont back you up with slip ons then Id find a new store

The dealer installed slip ons, S&S MK45s, on my 17 SGS without Stage 1. The dealer will cover any warranty issue as long as I am able to take it back to stock to diagnose any run ability issues.

They are not gonna refuse your warranty for running mufflers. Change anything forward
or ecm calibration and that's gonna flag your bike. What dealers wont tell you is some are on HDs radar for warranty claim issues. And then you get the service manager who should
have been a cop trying to save mother earth. If you meet him your gonna have a bad day no matter what you have done.

So if you have slip ons installed by your dealer they want you to take it back to stock when you bring it in for issues?? That would be a pain in the a$$ if thats the case..

How does it run with just mufflers?

You guys are really over thinking this whole deal. Put your slip ons that you choose, add the K&N for the stock air box ($50) add the tuner ($250) and the stage one down load. Guys that are not doing the tuner/download are running a risk of not complying with what HD is saying to do and the bike runs better. I have a very conservative dealer and this is exactly what they are telling everyone.

IMO YouTube never does the sound enough justice. It's nothing like hearing it in person.

I ran just the S&S mufflers on mine installed by the dealer until my 1000 mile service. Then I did the A.C. and stage 1 tune myself. They bike ran good with just the slip ons...not much different than stock just a little louder and deeper rumble. But it runs even better now with the stage 1 upgrade. Still doesn't sound quite like I want it to, but that will wait till no warranty concerns.
