Fabricated an air cleaner from a couple old aluminum frying pan bottoms with the mounting bracket made out of 12ga. mild steel riveted to the aluminum back plate.

Made a new sissy bar out of solid square bar stock. The old one I made out of hollow square tube split out at the shock bolt mounting tab.

Both of them on the bike.

Now I've got to pull the seat off (first one I ever made) and reshape the pan, add some foam, and cover it in riveted black leather.

Glad to see this thread come back around. I always like seeing what others do and how they do it.

A post up from another thread, im handy but not very skilled in fabrication so this im pleased with. Made my own breather bolts when I found nothing long enough for my AN Big Sucker and not wanting to drill and tap the housing, all fits under stock cover. Going on 3 years without fail.

Before HD offered black axle nut covers, made my own out of pipe caps. Used a dremel to grind down the ridges, drilled and tapped a hole, inserted a set screw, and a little body filler and sanding to smooth then coat it.

I also had a HD coffee cup with a stuck on police emblem which eventually came off after a few years. I flattened the emblem enough to fit the fender, put some double face body tape and made a front fender emblem.

Here are a few pics of my 1980 flh yard sale hard bags on my 04 sportster. I cut out the fiberglass to fit over a set of roadglide air shocks, reglassed and painted to match the pearl white. Made bracket for rear road glide lights, also not in picture now is the license plate under the rear lights. Made the mounting brackets for the bags from scratch. This was in 2006, before they came out with the switchback model.
