I now have a 160/70/17 rear tire that needs replacement. I'm going wider, called the Dealer and they say there is no 180....wtf? They say I can buy a 170/60/17, and they only sell Dunlop tires. I thought they made a 180. They also say they won't install anything but a 160, what it's called for. How do I get a 180 for a 06 streetbob?
Harley sells a screaming eagle tire that is designed for the 4.5" rims. Its a 180. Go to another dealer. Don't give those morons your business. Buy the tire online, and have an indy install it.
Thanks for the part #....nice deal...how do you search for the tire on Ebay?
I hate to sound obnoxious, but have you NEVER searched for anything on ebay? You can first try using the p/n in the search field. If nothing comes up, then use the brand/model of the tire.
Also, StBobber...that $259 is for the Wide tire kit which has some parts that help to keep the wiring underneath your fender from contacting the tire. Many have just bought the tire and affixed the wiring using whatever methods themselves.
I called the dealer gave them the part # and they told me $259.00, WTF? Where can I buy one cheaper?
I agree with Adrian by the way. But there is something available for 06 and up dynas called the dyna wide tire kit which includes the tire (dunlop SE 180)and some fender brackets. HD dealers usually won't sell the tire or install it unless you buy the whole kit. I had my indy order the tire by itself and install it for me and I got it cheaper through him than a HD dealer - go figure. Anyway, the tire is the only one made specifically for the stock 06 and up dyna rim. However, there may be other 170's or 180's you could make fit. It's a good riding tire but I hear they wear out quick. I have one but haven't worn it out yet. Just make sure your wiring is secure and out of the way of any tire rub and you can install the tire without the kit if you want.
