Default Ultra Classic to Street Glide

I am thinking about moving from a 2014 Ultra Classic to a newer Street Glide. My concern is my wife has gotten pretty use to the passenger seat on the Ultra and doesn't think the Street Glide will be comfortable enough. She joins me for about 50% of my rides (3-4 hours at a time).

Has anyone switched from an Ultra to a Street Glide and what feedback do you get from your passenger? Thanks

Maybe a detachable tour pack would be the solution.

I went from a Street Glide to an Ultra Limited.

Without even knowing anything about you, I'll go out on a limb and say your wife's concerns are real.

The fact she even brings it up, means she wants to be comfortable.

The factory Street Glide seat is NOT comfortable for the passenger.
It is more about looks than comfort.

The good news is, there are lots of seat options out there.

A quick ride around the block on the Street Glide, and the wife let me know a new seat would be needed if she was going to be riding on the back.
We went with a Sundowner seat, and she was happy with that one.
But there are lots of options.

imo women want the back rest and extra storage. Some won't ride without it.

You can put a detachable kit on for your tour pack and get yourself a different seat for riding solo. That's what I did. Keep OL happy when she's with me and only takes a minute or two to change seats and remove the tour pack when she isn't.

I've got a Sundowner seat and a detachable back rest and a luggage rack for my Street Glide. I also got a detachable tour pack with back rest as you can see in my sig pic. So basically I can configure the bike multiple ways to satisfy different situations.

Buy a SG and set it up for solo riding. Then buy your wife her own bike, problem solved!

Street Glides are a different animal. Yes, you can put a detachable TP on, but you can also go a little more minimal and still have comfort. The Mrs. doesn't mind an afternoon on this:

I went from an 05 Electra Glide Classic to a 16 street glide. I had to add a ultra seat, rear floorboards and a detached tour pack for the wife to be happy.
