Default shifting gears and rear stop light and turn lights

2001 road king classic,
- when engine is on and riding, is very difficult to shift from 1st to neutral or from 2nd to neutral..is this normal? I've heard that harleys comes with this "issue"
- my rear turn light is not working and turns out that there in no bulb in there but a small plate that has leds and stuff, is possible to find just the plate that comes inside the cover or do I need to buy the whole cover and plate?

Difficulty shifting could be a few things. Improperly serviced clutch cable that needs to be lubricated or replaced; clutch needs adjustment; clutch brasket could be notched; primary fluid level could be too high.

Need more info on your rear brake light.

A 5 speed transmission will not shift to neutral from 2nd gear.

It will shift from 1st gear to neutral if all is right, but don`t expect miracles.

I don`t chase clutch adjustment because it is difficult to find neutral.

I believe that locating Neutral on a H-D is inherently difficult for somebody new to them. I couldn't even find Neutral at all on a '16 test ride. When I got back to the dealership, I told the salesman about it. He comes out and I start the bike back up, he gets it into N without issues. Then I test rode a '17, Had difficulties again, but did find it eventually. The salesman said go lightly, it is not as long of a throw as other bikes. So. I get an '18, and still play with it. but, getting better at finding it.

I changed the transmission fluid in mine and it made shifting and finding neutral easy. I used mobile 1 synthetic. I am going to try either redline or spectro next time just to see if it is better. I bought a night train last month and it has a pink to red tranny fluid and it shifts even better than my electra glide, which is what caused me to want try something different in the glide.

"A 5 speed transmission will not shift to neutral from 2nd gear."

Where did you get THAT idea?

Again, what changed betwee 01 and 03? My buddies 03 RK wiuld shift just fine from 2nd or 1st to neutral.

No miracle unless a Harley working like it should is a miracle...
