Chain or Gear....?

Chain or Gear....?
Just finished reading some threads on this subject from 2012 and before.
Thought, why not pose the question again. Doing some upgrade work which absolutely will involve changing the cams. So thought I might try and glean a bit of more current opinions about going from chain to gear and whether its really worth it.
Daily rider. Currently just shy of 40K. Stock everything except Air Cleaner which is Arlen Ness Inverted.
Currently thinking S&S performance package, cnc ported heads, DnD Fat Cat exhaust and the cam that seems to fit my style the best appears to be the Woods TW-999-6A (Still learning about cams)
So my question now is: Does it really make more sense to go to Gear or will my daily usage be better supported by a more forgiving chain system still? I ride probably 100 miles or just shy of that each and every day. Rain or shine doesn't matter. I am out there on it every single day just about.
Is a gear system okay with such high usage or would it be safer to remain with chain?
Thanks
Its amazing how when one gets into upgrades, stuff I never even thought of begins to take on more and more importance. This will be an expensive investment but thats okay...I just want to do it right. Besides, its fun to learn about all this stuff.
