Default Shorts?

Who wears short pants when riding? Summer is here and over the last week I see a lot of people out riding wearing shorts, athletic shoes and sleeveless shirts. Keeps you cool when its 90 plus outside but is it really a good idea? Are these people "cool" or just asking for trouble and some serious sun burn or worse?

I wear shorts everyday, doesn’t matter the temp. If it’s 5° or 105° I will have shorts on in my everyday life, except when I’m on the bike. I will never do that, it just isn’t smart at all. Same goes for footwear, you’ll never see me on a bike without good boots.

No, it’s not a good idea. To each their own.

Was riding in N.C. with shorts. Felt something in my crotch and then it did not feel good. Seems a bee got up my pant leg. To make a long story short, I looked like the kid in "We are the Millers". I still where them when I ride. I make sure there is no gap for a bee to fly in.

Never have, never will. Doesn’t matter how hot it gets.

I don't wear shorts, I've seen first hand what RR is and the pain involved with it. As with anything I am full on for choice, whether it be apparel or helmet, as long as the consequences are understood before hand.

Yep I’ve seen it all this weekend and I haven’t even been on 2 wheels. Short wear’n crotch rocket dudes...no shirt wear’n cruiser dudes, high dollar harley and Indian rides be ridden by guys that put their feet down in sweeping turns way under the speed limit, one cruiser pulling way too much weight on a tiny trailer, pack of 20/25 riders taking up both lanes mile after mile with a line of us wanting to go around. I could go on and didn’t even mention the road rage’n cagers. Summer in Texas has started.

Super bad idea, especially on a Harley: the heat coming off the motor is unbearable. As long as you are moving, no problem. But, stopped at a traffic light can be torture.
