Default Vintage???

While at the campground in Sturgis this year I met a number of people camping near me. While talking with one group of neighbors, one of the guys mentions that he rode up to Sturgis on a vintage Harley. Go to check out his ride and it's a 1997 Dyna Low Rider. Bike had about 103K miles on it, so obviously the guy does ride it. I just thought it was a little bit strange that the guy considers his bike "vintage". The bike isn't even 25 years old, plus this bike has an electronic speedometer. I guess for "me", it's difficult to consider something "vintage", if it has an electronic or digital readout. I'd never consider my 1993 Fatboy vintage.

FWIW, Department of Motor Vehicles considers 25 or older antique/classic/historic so your fat Boy is almost there. My 1990 ZX7 is registered as historic with QQ plates.
But, I get what you mean... hard to think anything in the 90s could be vintage .

Wow. That means my bike is now an “antique”! What does that make me? Damn, getting old sucks.

i have a hard time thinking of a motorcycle I purchased new as “vintage”.

Yep. Its great too because you only have to pay to register it once. At least in my state thats how it works.
