Default Crazy Stage 1 Question

2018 - Ultra Limited with Tab Performance slip-ons

I see a significant reduction in MPGs at about 80mph and above. I understand the process of a Stage 1 (air intake and tuner) - greater airflow which then requires a tune - my assumption is more fuel to match the increased air flow.

My question is there a chance I will see better MPGs at higher 80mph and above due to efficiencies created by the increased power or maybe just a better tune?

I understand there are better options, but I will only consider the Heavy Breather and Street Tuner - although I might add some XIEDs

Thanks.
Mike

Yeah, here in Northern VA 55-60 will get you run over.

I would just like to be able to get 200 miles per tank - can't make that now, but I do have a problem with my right wrist.

I ride fairly aggressively, but not crazy. My mileage went down when I did the stage 2 upgrade. I could also smell a bit of gas with the tune. Once I got it dynoed, the smell was gone and mileage went back up. I do get around 200 to a tank. Usually average about 40 mpg once again.

Better gas mileage with the stage 1, it makes sense. I thought the same thing, but my 2017 FLHR has about the same MPG`s, the bike runs so much better, so i give it more of the gas. If i ride the bike slow and easy MPG`s go up. this being said, there are other things that effect MPG`s, like tire pressure, the bikes tune SA (spark, timing, map ect)

I can tell you that will my 2018 107, SE Street Cannon Mufflers, K&N Drop-in factory replacement filter in stock airbox, SE Pro-Street tuner, the minimum I get is 44 mpg and as high as 49. Granted I don't cruise at 80 mph. Just my 2c worth, your mileage may vary!

Be safe!
