Default Issues installing exhaust gaskets

I tried to install exhaust gaskets for the first time in my EVO. It is a VERY tight fit, and I couldn't get them in without somewhat warping the gaskets, pictured below. Are the gaskets compromised, or is this normal?

I have a Vance Hines Big Shots with quiet baffles I want to install; after calling an Indy shop they told me I wouldn't need to rejet my carb because it is jetted for the Thunderheader that was previously on it. (Mikuney carb)

The shops in my area are charging about $150 just for the exhaust install, which makes me really want to do it myself. My problem the first time around is that fitting this exhaust has to be exact, and I tried to center the exhaust flanges over the head bolts first as I was still positioning the exhaust, instead of getting the exhaust in position first and then gently getting the flanges onto the heads. I quit out of fear of marring the bolts and being too drunk.

Is it worth investing in an exhaust gasket install tool, buying some new gaskets and trying again? https://www.denniskirk.com/jims/exha...ad=45713346877

On a positive note, I was able to correctly assemble and install a factory detachable windshield I've had laying around for the past year.

Thanks for your input!

Your going to leak.
You can invest in an install tool.
Sets the gaskets square.

Wow, so glad my TC96 didnt have this issue of the weekend..... but ya, def looks like it might leak. My knowledge is not much but are the gaskets from motor type to motor type different? IE Wrong gasket maybe?

Yes this helps, more so if you can get the motor warm (heat gun or hot day)
Also, there are 2 different types of gaskets, tapered and non-tapered - get the right ones for your pipes

Tapered or non-tapered gaskets?

UPDATE: Called Vance Hines, they said they use flat, untapered gaskets in all their pipes, similar to the screaming eagle gaskets. The rep is sending me a couple for free, excellent service at Vance Hines
