Default Newer air cleaner on an older bike.

I came across an air cleaner from a 2015 dresser and like the looks of it. I removed the stock "football" air cleaner, and put the newer one on my 2013 Ultra and it is extremely close to the gas tank. I fear that with the engine vibrating, it will ruin the gas tank. I know my pictures are terrible and you may or may not see what I'm talking about. Has anyone used this style air cleaner on a 2013 and earlier dresser? THANKS for your interest.

Yes, I have one on my 2011 Ultra limited. No issues.

Thanks a lot for your reply. So your 2011 has the very same "less than a 1/4" clearance between the air cleaner and the gas tank? It just looks so scary, but like you, I really like the looks of the newer air cleaner. I think come spring I'm gonna use it.
THANKS again.

Looks like a good application for a tank lift. Google it.

OK. I believe you. It's still scary with less than 3/16" gap. If it wasn't a rubber mounted engine, I wouldn't worry about it shaking and scratching the tank.

Did you use the HO air filter as well or did you just put the HO outer cover over your old air filter and bracket? I believe there is a difference in where that center hole is...

I put it over the Stage One air cleaner that fits my 2013 dresser #29260-08 and used the molded rubber piece with the spacer (as shown in this picture), behind the cover. I do have all the other parts that are in the picture, I just thought they looked much the same as is already on my bike. THANKS for your help.

I ran it on my 08 and now my 11 with a small spacer between the filter and cover. 3/8 or 1/2" I think it's what I made.

I put that exact outer cover on my 03-RKC and it did mark the tank. Good thing I caught it cuz it was starting to indend. I took a little grinder and very carefully I rounded in the top of the breather from the edge and never had an issue since. You could not see the notch either because it was facing inboard.

OK. Thanks. It seems I was right to be skeptical of using this cover. I'll pass it on to someone with a newer bike.
