Default 99 Wide Glide rear turn signal help PLEASE

Hello All Thank you in advance for your help

Bike: 1999 Wide Glide

Issue: Was riding over the weekend and my turn signals stopped working. The front turn signals light but will not flash, the rear turn signals do not light. Upon further investigation, I discovered the wires on both sides that are up under the fender were chaffed. Fixed the wires, same problem front and back. Checked for voltage uner brake light cover. No voltage to rear turn signals. Checked fuse/breaker they are all good.

Does that mean my module got fried?

Any way to bench test it? Hate to spend $150.00 and that not be the problem.

Thank you again for helping!

Mike

Don`t buy a module....

First find out why the rear lights aren`t working.

Have you checked for power at the connectors on the rear of the bike?

Hi Dan,

Yes I checked all of the breaker/Fuses. There are four of them on my bike and they all tested good.

I then checked for voltage inside the brake light cover and I do not have any voltage to either turn signal.

That is what led me to believe it was the module

Check at the connector before the ones at the rear module.

You need to see if the voltage is getting to that rear connector block.

Hi Dan,

Not sure I quite understand. I put the probes of my voltmeter in the connector inside the rear brake light cover. In other words I unplugged the rear turn signal connector and read it at the brake light module.

Where would the other connector be?

Thank you

There is a 6 pin connector going in to the circuit board, it comes from the main harness.

You want to make sure the power is getting back to that terminal board, if power is not getting back to that area, chances are the terminal board is not the issue.

If you have a service manual you can find it on the wiring diagram.

The front won't blink if the load from the rear isn't seen by the TSM. Check for power at the plug under the seat
then follow it back towards the rear lights. Guarantee there's another break somewhere.

If the bike has the add on module from HD that changes the rear turn signals into brake lights as well (would have red rear lenses if conversion was done properly) check BEFORE that module. It will plug in between the main harness and the rear blinkers. Those go bad sometimes.
