Default Twin cam engine numbers decode

Hi, I'm thinking of buying a modified twin cam engine but don't know anything about it. Can someone please decode the engine numbers? 07707C0886
Thanks

That engine number doesn't look like a Harley Twin Cam EIN (engine identification number) to me....

What year is it supposed to be?

Is it a Harley bottom end, with Harley cases....?

All my Twin Cams ('01, '03, '12, '16) had engine numbers that started with a symbol like an asterisk, followed by 3 letters & a number, or 4 letters, followed by 6 numbers that match the last 6 of the VIN. It ends with another asterisk symbol.

I have no idea. It's sitting on a shelf at a friend's house. He thinks it's a 2011 tc. Those are the only numbers I could find.

Why don’t you take some pictures of this engine and post them. Folk might be able to recognize it and tell you some more. Might not even be a Harley engine, but some other v-twin.

If it's a Harley Twin Cam, the EIN will be on the primary side of the engine, just below the two cylinders....

FYI... I checked the S&S engine serial number look up, it does not come back as an S&S engine either.....

foxtrapper has a good idea, post a pic ......

I'm not good at this, so I may get corrected, but here is how I decipher that engine code:

KB - is the model code, that engine is from an FLHX (Street Glide)

4 - is the engine displacement code, that engine came from the factory as 1584cc (96")

7 - is the model year code, that engine is a 2007

687926 - are last six digits of the Street Glide VIN that engine was installed in at the factory.

So prior to any mods, that engine was a 2007 96" from an FLHX Street Glide. That makes it a Twin Cam "A" engine... It will fit into any compatible year Touring bike, but cannot be used in a Softail bike...

Hope that helps...

If it's a "modified" TC that really is from 2007, you'd better check what they (hopefully) did to strengthen that notoriously weak crankshaft set up from that model year.
