Default chain or compensator??

Have a 2011 FXDC with about 40k km's on it. stage one only so no extreme torque on the drive train. Recently I have noticed a slight clunking noise (maybe slapping chain??) coming from what souns like the primary. Noise is present when running in higher gears at lower revs. Seems to go away completely when keeping the revs higher, getting worse when running low revs. I know - simple solution would be to run higher revs but still want to know if something is about to fail. somewhere in the middle of nowhere...

any ideas??

thnx

Have you tried adjusting your primary chain (cold) and then see if you still have the noise?

Should be an automatic adjusting chain tensioner in a 2011 unless someone has changed it out.

OP: You may want to remove your outer primary cover to see what's going on inside.

Check your rear pulley bolts.

just pulled the primary and found the chain play is about 1/4" - sounds not enough?? Yes - automatic tensioner - guess I can remove and reset it so it can ratchet up as needed?? Just pull the bolts, take it out - reset it with thye cabletie trick and put it back in??

thnx
