So after shutting off engine, my yeti headphone device reconnects on startup. But the iphone doesn't. I have to go in manually and reconnect phone, then punch carplay .....any ideas?

 

come on guys, does your carplay reconnect on startup?

 

My yeti device will connect first and then my iPhone connects. Sorry haven’t had the issue of the phone not reconnecting on start up. Maybe try unpairing and repair the phone?

 

It’s totally random for mine. Sometimes it connects, sometimes it connects then crashes, sometimes it restarts my phone then all bets are off until I stop and unlock the phone. Sometimes it will stream music but won’t start CarPlay.

And I second the operating system. I do not have all the updates but I have had only one issue that was resolved.

 

FWIW, I just switched to the Maedhawk recently. It's worked well most of the time but occasionally CarPlay won't automatically start after restarting the bike. When I was using the 50S that came with the bike it connected every time. It wasn't always the fastest, but worked. Switched to the maedhawk because it's smaller and never has to be charged. Unless reliability becomes a regular issue I'll stick with it. For $18 it works good enough, but can't help but think a higher end unit may take care of some of these issues. Sometimes we get what we pay for.

 

What are you using for a headset? Is that connecting seamlessly for you?

The only time I have a problem with CarPlay not starting automatically is when the headset has troubles. I use the mediahawk hack.

 

Yeah, first year at Sturgis/Buffalo Chip, about a hundred miles onto the ride home and first sleep in a week LOL!

 

Only times I have issues with Carplay starting are all on the phone. Each time it happens when I try to use my phone it is a black screen locked up. Disconnect from the bike interface and the phone works suddenly. Usually unlock phone then let the bike grab it and it works. Otherwise its called cycling the connect of the phone on the bike device manager while riding until the phone decides to work.

Normally it just all works at start up, first headset then phone
