Default Custom Dynamics Red/Amber 1157 kit - how?

I've read a couple of threads on converting the rear 1156 turn signals to 1157. Seems the threads are after specific led functions, and I really don't get the nuances involved.

What would I have to do in converting the 1156 to 1157 in order to install this Custom Dynamics kit: https://www.customdynamics.com/softa...ith-controller

I really just (just?) want the solid red run/brake (signal lights) that go amber on the turn signal.

Call custom dynamics. They talked me out of it. It can be done, but not easily.... Well, cheaply. There is the thread here not very long ago about using the other softail bullet light housings for the 1157 bulb base. Even when you get the physical bulb base in, you still need a flash to tell the computer you have 1157s now.

I agree, the red/amber wod be nice. But I just decided to stick with 1156, put in red leds from CD and do a triple play module instead. For me personally, I wanted more brake light and flashing so that route worked for me.

I did get the white/amber front LEDs... The Genesis 4s...and DAMN! Definitely bright. Much more visibility.

As far as I know, no one makes a red/amber self converting bulb. Yet.

If you are wanting to do this to the lowrider ST in your signature you will not need to flash the BCM. All you have to do is change the inner socket to 1157 type bulb and run 2 wires from the taillight to under the seat and connect them to the correct connector, the frame wiring already has the wiring. Then you can use any LED taillight you want.

Spoke to CD on the topic. I didn't quite understand, but they said the function for amber turns with red run/brake are not available on the bike (BCM). Maybe just referring to the 1156 configuration.

As I read your comments, it seems the bike (BCM?) does have the functionality. Just needs the 1157 sockets and run two wires (from the 1157 sockets or other?). I expect the wires would need a specific connector crimped on, yes? Sounds like low effort...is it that easy?

Still, it may be just as good to run the 1156 LED turn signals with the CD triple play (that provides the run/brake/turn to the 1156s).

I really like mine. I'm not going to slap a bunch of lights on, but definitely appriciate the added functionality. Wife says they are way more noticeable. Have red running lights and blinkers are very common on cars so I really didn't think having amber was that big of a deal compared to adding running and brake lights to blinkers. Sure, plug and play, no mods, I would buy them. But to work for them... Meh.

Yes, you will need the pins or sockets to crimp to the wires and insert them into the existing connectors. I got them from my local dealer, were only about $0.50 each.

When I converted my rear turn only I replaced the lights with 1157 style
run 2 new wires for the combo run/brake (1 to each side)
left the turn wires for turns and installed a Run/Brake/Turn module But didn't use the turn feature.
And I changed the lens to red.

@RomeoTango , the Triple Play with solid red signals is definitely the best plug-and-play option.
That said, we do have another amber/red turn signal that would be much simpler to install (without having to change your turn signal housings or reprogram your BCM). Assuming this is for your 2023 Low Rider ST, you could use our Genesis 4 Amber/Red 1156 Turn Signals.

The only catch is that these turn signals must be hardwired, in order to get the red running light and brake light rings to illuminate. It's not difficult, but you have to route the extra wires on the lights through the turn signal housings and splice them into your run and brake circuits behind the taillight. Also note that these have a red ring running lights and brake lights, as opposed to a solid red light.

Been out of town with little time to follow up.

For the 1157 conversion, any chance someone could relay the part numbers? Would it simply be the same socket that comes on the Street Bob?

And of the two wires (new) run to under the seat. Are those part of the 1157 socket? Or are they completely separate (tap into taillight wiring?)?

Also, once I do this I can also use the Custom Dynamics Triple Play to strobe, yes?
