There is no "best"
Everyone has a personal preference
They either swear by or swear at a particular brand
I prefer Metzeler, but that proves nothing other than I`ve used them for 37 years
Lot`s here like Avon , i`m sure they`re good

Default 07 night train

I had to change front tire couple wks ago and put harley brand Dunlop .. Just yesterday had an issue with the bak feeling like it wanted to fish tail on me so I'm not sure if side winds or tire traction would cause that I even had to slow my speed to 45 n a 55 zone due to that matter (yes I'm a new rider forgot to mention )

Could be road conditions , could be the tire
What is brand and condition of current rear tire ?
If it`s worn buy a new one that matches your new front

When I travel concrete in certain areas it's ok and black top is better ' but the rear tire does have scrapes on it ...and I had annes on getting a matching tire for the rear my next pay date I got the bike used and still learning about the bike and I'm a beginner (1rst bike) I installed a memphis shield to help wit the wind deflection some and before I do any rides I do inspections ( oil , gas and air pressure ) front stays at 40 psi and rear calls for same but I'm thinking I have a slow leak some where cause I'll have to add air every couple days 5-10 psi each time

I am not sure how one figures traction on a bike. I guess I don't really push it to that point.

However, on my 04, I found the HD Dunlops hard riding. (3 sets) A set of Metzeler's were so hard they squeaked backing out of my garage. (The front had a strange cupping wear too)

The best ride is the Michelin I have on it now. At stock pressure, there night and day softer riding then the Lops. Wear seems about the same.

I have never managed to get a lot of miles out of any tire. On a Deuce, the front and back Harley Lops are horrible mismatched in size and rubber compound. The Metzeler's and Michelin are the same compound.

Miles on this bike ?
Get your bike on a jack and do the left to right "wiggle test" on both wheels
