Default Wrench icon

Anyone have the wrench icon displayed on their infotainment screen? My understanding is it indicates maintenance is needed to the brake system. Specifically fluid bleed and replacement. Unfortunately only the dealer can reset the indicator. It’s supposed be set to come on every 24 months. I purchased my streetglide new 14 months ago. Not happy about paying several hundred dollars for the dealer to do this .

I haven't had this illuminate yet..but wondering if perhaps the system can detect fluid condition, contamination, moisture, etc? that sounds like a stretch and giving it way too much knowledge credit ... personally, it's a service I take seriously and would rather err in possibly performing a little prematurely than shrug off and procrastinate on .. being that these systems are more exposed to the elements than automobiles, I wouldn't take the chance on having contaminated fluid, corrosion, etc.

The brake fluid service Indicator (9) turns on when the vehicle has detected that it requires an ABS bleed procedure to be performed. See a Harley-Davidson dealer for service.

Flush brake systems and replace DOT 4 hydraulic brake fluid every two years or sooner if moisture content is 3 percent or greater.

I have been told that it’s a timed response. I do agree that it’s an important service . I had a 2014 road king with linked ABS brakes and I did the service myself. It’s a pretty simple procedure if you have a vacuum bleeder. The only issue is cycling the ABS unit to get all the old fluid out. Take it down a dirt road and hit the brakes a few times and re-bleed the system and it’s done. But with this bike you can’t clear that icon it has to be done at the dealer service. That’s my issue .

If I remember correctly it is programmed to two years. Owners manual doesn't state it directly, though. I doubt there are moisture content sensors, if there were we wouldn't need to check it during regular service intervals
Brake Fluid Service Indicator

See Figure 29. The brake fluid service Indicator (9) turns on
when the vehicle has detected that it requires an ABS bleed
procedure to be performed. See a Harley-Davidson dealer
for service.

I'll bet that it 2 years from the build date or the last time the service was completed. They won't start the clock at time of purchase since the bike really doesn't know that start day.

Are there aftermarket options to clear this indicator light? I would be pissed, given my distance from a dealership, if the only way to clear this was plugging into the digital tech.

You can try to reach out to DynoJet folks, if I'm not mistaken their latest update support newer bikes and has an option (for extra money) to cycle ABS, maybe they have a way to turn off that light. The bad news is that PV4 will void your factory warranty on powertrain, if it matters to you.

It is 2 years from build date. Mine says 12/23. I think it’s ridiculous to need service after only 14 months of in service use. I’ve checked my brake fluid with a moisture meter and it’s fine. I’ve also heard that it’s between $300-$400 for this service. Again my issue is not being able to turn off the icon after I do my own service. Imagine if they did that with oil changes. That’s Probably next…
