Hi, I have managed to get a bend in my fuel tank near thefuel cap entry.
I am UK based and need a new XL 1200 Sportster custom Tank, or the current one replaired. Based near London or Surrey or Berkshire. Anyone know anyone who has one as er thepicture. I would consider a different custom paint job but the base should be black (otherwise I would need fender and side bits too).
If it helps it is Type X:2, Variant X32, Version FMDACO
bring it to a body shop that does dent repairs where they usually can use various tools to push the dent back sometimes a paint-less repair. sometimes they can use a suction pull and the final but paint needed is a tack on pull stud.

hi,
Thanks for the reply. I have sent the pics to a custom paintshop in Camberley Surrey. They say I need a new tank. I have seen car repair videos (paintless) which are amazing. I wonder if the main problem is the actual filler neck being a little screwed. But yes I will try again before giving in and buying a tank. Of anyone knows someone specialising in tank repairs please let me know. Preferably Berkshire or Surrey or London
thanks
Charlie
basically what they are saying is it will cost you more to repair it than another tank. in a way they are right even if you bought the tack on pull studs and pulling tools and did it yourself it is not cost worthy but hey you gain experience. here in the states just the paint cost alone is horrendous due to epa and voc regs.
plenty of youtube diy videos
