Default Switching to Forward Controls on '76 Superglide

Hey all. I'm helping my dad convert his '76 Superglide to forward controls, preferably pegs instead of boards. I've been combing eBay for components, and recently bought a forward brake pedal with the master cylinder and all. Don't have the cable or the stop lamp switch though. Curious if anyone knows where to get those items? We're trying to keep it as close to original as we can.

I think they used a hydraulic switch teed into the brake line for that.

Just put a nice set of highway pegs on, leave the original mid-controls and learn to shift/ brake with your heels. Much easier than you might think.

No, very easy.

Back when I was just starting out (late 70's), that's how everyone on an FX or XL did it.

Slide your foot back and "hook" the shifter with the back of your ankle and pull up. I did it for years with Sportsters. Got sick of it and found forward controls more my style. Good luck.

The nice thing about keeping the mids is on a long ride you can "stand up" on the pegs to stretch. Also helped when self push starting to come down hard on the seat when you popped the clutch.
